Technical Details
SpectraCube® is based on spectral imaging which combines two existing technologies, CCD-imaging and spectrometry. CCD-imaging produces a finely detailed monochrome image of an object. Spectrometry, on the other hand, measures the spectrum of selected areas on the object and then displays each spectrum as a separate graph.
Spectral Imaging
With spectral imaging, these two technologies are combined so that there is no separation between the image and the spectral information about the object. The image itself contains the spectral information for each point in the image.
After you know the spectrum of each pixel in the image, you analyze this information by mapping each spectrum to a unique color. For example, in the picture of the red chromosomes, we mapped the spectrum of each pair of chromosomes to a unique color.
