SkyPaint® Probes
What is Chromosome Painting?
Chromosome painting refers to the hybridization of fluorescently labeled chromosome -specific, composite problem pools to cytological preparations. Chromosome painting allows the visualization of individual chromosomes in metaphase or interphase cells and the identification of both numerical and structural chromosomal aberrations in human pathology with high sensitivity and speificty. In addition to human chromsome-specific probe pools, painting probes are now available from ASI for mouse and rat
SkyPaint probes are combinatorially labeled FISH painting probes and are available for human, mouse and rat chromosomes.
Familiar
The SkyPaint hybridization procedure follows standard FISH protocols with an emphasis on sample preparation.
Linked to Classical Cytogenetics
You can hybridize SkyPaint to previously G-banded slides so you do not lose the link between SKY and classical cytogenetic methods. Also, DAPI is the sixth color in SkyPaint kits, and SkyView includes superb band enhancement algorithms which give G-Band-like quality images with which you can compare your SKY images.
Versatile
Human SkyPaint has been successfully hybridized to many sample types including:
- Lymphocyte preparations
- Amniotic fluids
- Bone marrows
- Solid tumors
- Leukemias and lymphomas
- Cancer cell lines
- Oocytes
- Chromosomes from other species such as gibbon and baboon.
Quality
SkyPaint kits are manufactured under GMP standards.
